The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Biocentre, at the earliest possible date, is seeking to fill the permanent position of a Research Associate (f-m-d) as Head of the Core Facility Plant Transformation and Genome Editing as full-time employment. 

The salary will be up to Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L, if the personal requirements and tasks are fulfilled. 

Tasks: 

  • Establishment, management, and organisation of the Core Facility Plant Transformation and Genome Editing at the Biocenter of the MLU 
  • Development and optimisation of genome editing and plant transformation methods 
  • Generation of transgenic and genome-edited plants in collaborative projects with MLU research groups 
  • Advising MLU scientists on the conception and implementation of projects on genome editing and plant transformation 
  • Application for, development and realization of own third-party funded projects 
  • Publication of research results 
  • Active participation in research consortia of the MLU 
  • Instruction of scientific and technical staff and students 
  • Conducting courses in graduate and postgraduate programmes 

 

Requirements: 

  • Completed scientific university degree (Master, Diploma) in biology or a related discipline 
  • Very good PhD in the field of molecular plant sciences 
  • Excellent knowledge of genetics, biotechnology and plant cultivation 
  • Excellent knowledge and several years of experience in the transformation and genome editing of plants 
  • Significant contribution to relevant publications 
  • Experience in the acquisition of third-party funds desirable 
  • Communicative and interactive personality 
  • High intrinsic motivation and ability to work in a team 
  • Excellent command of English and basic knowledge of German
